PET is your Best Value

PET carpet is a tremendous value. Whether your carpet is manufactured by Shaw Industries, Mohawk, or Beaulieu of America, it is the most economically priced and ecologically friendly carpet on the market.

PET carpet is manufactured from recycled plastic bottles, which is a huge deal in our effort to recycle and to protect our environment. The fiber is naturally softer and more stain resistant than nylon, which makes it a great carpet fiber. But best of all is the price. PET offers more bang fot the buck than any other carpet fiber.

For a comparable pile, approximately how much less should PET carpeting cost than nylon? My dealer showed me a lesser nylon carpet that was priced more than the PET carpet.

    Thanks.

That’s actually a hard question to answer, Harry. On average, I’d say you could save $.50 – $1.50 per yard, all else being equal between the two carpets. A major factor would also be what the retailer/dealer had in stock at the time. There are just about always specials running on both PET and nylon carpets, and if the dealer you are working with has one in stock, it should be much cheaper.

Also, you’ll need to consider stain protection. If the PET is an average carpet with no stain protection, and the nylon has a Stainmaster or some other type of stain-resistant yarn, then the nylon would probably be noticeably more expensive.

I wish I could give you a straight answer, but there’s a lot of variables to that question.

    Thanks for reading!
